Knocked Out ….Almost

I got THE FLU for the first time in my life this week. I don’t remember feeling that bad before.

The first symptoms appeared on Sunday. It just got worse until Yesterday when I had to face my phobia of hospitals.  I know it’s the right thing to do but I’ve always had this irrational fear of doctors.

I get a little like Woody Allen, I start thinking about the worst possible diagnostic.

Well, it took me 5 hours in the hospital.

At first, a nurse takes your temperature, blood pressure and description of symptoms. Then you have to wait until a doctor comes to the door and call your name. When the doctor calls you, if he finds it necessary, he can asks for exams that are taken immediately and the results delivered in about one hour and half. The doctor asked 2 exams, which I took and had to wait for the results.

When I was called by the doctor at the second time I had spent already 3 hours and half there and could barely stand still. Then he prescribed medication I.V.  I remained there for another hour taking it.

And this is because I have a private health plan. I was feeling really bad and it was difficult staying there. But I got examined and treated all in one afternoon. Today I’m feeling much better, which means I can eat, remain sit or standing still.

I have my occasional health problems and a few chronical ones. Though I almost never felt so bad that I couldn’t do anything but staying in bed.

I can’t help thinking about most of people here who can’t count on a health plan, specially elderly people and children. I don’t know what I would have done Yesterday if I didn’t have one.

Well, it was not my time yet 🙂 . Still too early and with many issues pending 🙂 .
