We don’t do things for nothing. Everything has a motivation.
It may be an urge, a need. It may seem the right thing to do. It may have a compensation.
Helping others has both the need and the compensation.
Addiction has both, the urge and the compensation, though it never seems like the right thing to do.
Obligations have the need but sometimes they mix with compensation.
It’s difficult to understand the acts of others sometimes, but the answer is always in the motivation.
